2016 Nissan Maxima SR’s Performance Put to the Test
The Nissan Maxima SR is affectionately referred to as a “4-door sports car” among those who have experienced its sporty demeanor and powerful performance. Nissan decided to prove just how powerful and fun to drive the 2016 Nissan Maxima SR is, putting it to the ultimate test at the “2016 Nissan Maxima Test Track Challenge.”
Nissan contacted AMCI Testing, an independent third-party testing organization, and asked them to put the 2016 Nissan Maxima SR’s performance against the 2015 Acura TLX 3.5 (FWD) with Technology Package, the 2015 BMW 328i sedan, and the 2015 Audi A4 2.0T quattro® Premium Plus Tiptronic. AMCI Testing took to the Buttonwillow Raceway Park’s West Loop, and found that the 2016 Nissan Maxima SR is, in fact, the fastest of the four sedans. The Maxima SR took just 1:18.50 seconds to complete the loop, 0.98 seconds faster than the BMW 328i, and more than 2 seconds faster than both the Acura TLX and Audi A4.
“We expected the all-new 2016 Maxima, with its re-engineered engine, transmission and chassis to do well, but frankly even we were surprised by the head-to-head test results against some very well-established luxury sports sedans,” said Pierre Loing, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America in a statement. “Following the adage that ‘seeing is believing,’ the video highlights that the 2016 Maxima’s drivetrain and powertrain combination is well optimized for performance, meeting the challenge offered by the well-regarded rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive competitors.”
