What’s New for the 2018 Nissan Armada?
The 2018 Nissan Armada has gotten bigger and better. The 154-cubic foot cabin offers best-in-class rear legroom to please your third row passengers. More standard equipment makes this ride an even better value. Push button start and a programmable thermostat establish it as a thoroughly modern way to travel. In every edition, the front seats can be power-heated. If you step up to a higher trim, you can get ventilated front seats and a power-adjusting steering wheel. The new Platinum edition pushes into luxury territory with premium leathers and top amenities. Expanding its luxury ride qualities, Nissan engineers went to extremes to quiet the ride: additional sound insulation has been layered inside the walls and pillars.
Under the hood, the Armada boasts best-in-class horsepower. The 390-horsepower Endurance V8 produces 394 lb.-ft. of torque. Drivers will feel confident as they accelerate in highway traffic or tackle a mountain incline. Properly equipped, it has the capacity to tow up to 8,500 pounds. Rear-wheel and four-wheel drive are on the menu.
For entertainment, a large eight-inch touchscreen puts NissanConnect apps in easy reach. HD radio and SiriusXM sound better with the 13-speaker Bose system, a class-leading standard. SiriusXM Travel Link comes with a three-year subscription. A hands-free text messaging assistant lets you do business without taking your eyes off of the road.
As far as safety, for 2018 the Armada offers an active rearview mirror. A camera on the tailgate eliminates interior blind spots and provides a glare-free view of a larger area than the mirror normally shows. This class-exclusive feature operates with the push of a button, allowing the driver to activate it when needed. A backup collision system is another feature rarely found on competitors. In reverse, the system reacts to traffic or obstacles by braking the vehicle. In yet another Nissan exclusive, the moving object detection system comes with the Around-View monitor. The forward collision warning has a class-exclusive predictive feature, watching further ahead than standard systems. It will cue the driver to slow or stop, and, if that fails to produce the needed results, it may trigger a forward autobrake. A class-exclusive blind spot intervention system warns the driver and may automatically intervene to stop the vehicle from passing in front of close side traffic. Clearly this SUV wants to keep families safer.
