There is a good reason why Motor Trend Magazine calls the Altima “one of the best-selling vehicles.” Nissan has transformed the auto industry with the Altima and brings excitement to car owners. It’s clear that car owners are glad they have chosen the Nissan Altima over the competitive version, with more than 5.6 million sold to date. With an impressive 25-year history, the 2019 Nissan Altima was recently unveiled at the New York International Auto Show, after much anticipation. So, what makes the Nissan Altima so popular – and how does the 2019 model stand up to the 2018 model?

Performance

The Altima’s performance has innovative capabilities that are unmatched by any other vehicle in its class. You will find that the 2019 model is no exception. For starters, it is the first all-wheel drive vehicle for Nissan in the midsize sedan category. The 2019 model is available in a 2.5-liter direct injection engine, following in the footsteps of its predecessor. The fuel efficiency is one of the greatest selling points of the 2018 Altima with 27 city and 38 highway MPG. Although EPA ratings haven’t been released for the 2019 model, the 4-cylinder standard engine will surely meet the same quality results. According to Nissan, the engine is predominantly an evolution of the current engine design, with 80 percent enhanced improvements made. With the 2019 Altima, there is 188 horsepower and 180 pounds of torque, whereas the 2018 model has 179 horsepower and 177 pounds of torque, making them both fairly similar. The most notable change is that the V-6 engine will no longer be available with the 2019 Altima; however, it is still available in the 2018 model with 22 city and 32 highway MPG, 270 horsepower and 251 pounds of torque. Nissan has replaced the Altima’s V-6 engine with the Variable Compression Turbo engine for enhanced performance!

Appearance

As the sixth generation vehicle, the 2019 Altima brings forward over two decades of pristine success with a front grille that looks completely dominating. The grill is actually taller than in the 2018 model. It is an attractive looking car that has LED daytime running lights, which is standard. The 2019 Altima is available in five distinctive trims. One of the biggest changes for the 2018 Altima was its modern and aerodynamic shape. There is a distinctive transformation in the 2019 Altima; however, the 2018 model has an enhanced look that is not only appealing but also unique with its available active grille shutters that add to the efficiency of the midsize sedan. The shutters open and close automatically; decreasing wind resistance at highway speeds. Both the 2019 and 2018 models have the Altima “look” that has become a signature style and turns heads wherever you go!

Features

Perhaps the most compelling change for the 2019 Altima is the new interior features, which has been completely redesigned from the 2018 Altima. The all-new head unit is complete with an infotainment system that includes Apple CarPlay. For comfort, you will love the zero-gravity memory foam seats, which is perfection at its best for a cozy ride. Of course not to be outdone, the 2018 Altima will spoil you with soft leather-appointed seats, a driver-centric cockpit, and a center console with an ergonomic layout that allows easy access to controls.
